A butcher died on Friday while trying to slaughter a pig in Hong Kong, the city’s police said.
The 61-year-old butcher, who worked at the Sheung Shui slaughterhouse on the northern outskirts of the city near its border with mainland China, was knocked over by the struggling pig, sustaining a 40-centimeter (15-inch) wound. meat. blade, police told CNN.

The city Department of Labor said it has launched an investigation.
“The Department of Labor mourns the individual’s death and extends its deepest condolences to his family,” it said in a statement.
“We will complete the investigation as soon as possible to identify the cause of the accident, determine the responsibility of the duty bearers and recommend improvement measures. We will take the actions in accordance with the law if there is any violation of the labor safety legislation,” he added. a department spokesman said.
The city’s Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, which runs the cattle slaughterhouses, offered its condolences to the man’s family in a statement.
